PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGEmsSifford.jpg

Dear Family and Friends of Reed School,

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT:  Due to the huge number of parents who attend this event, we will again do this in two shifts:

*  Parents of Kindergartners:  FIRST meet in Multi-Purpose Room at 5:45 PM. Lexie will introduce K teachers & specialists. THEN go to K classrooms by 6:15 to meet with your child's teacher.
*  1st & 2nd Grades:  FIRST meet in the Multi-Purpose Room at 6:30 PM then go to classrooms by 7:00.  Lexie will introduce both 1st & 2nd grade teachers, plus our specialists!

This is a PARENTS ONLY event. There is no supervision on the playground, so please make sure your children are supervised.
Our first days of school were filled with high excitement, smiles, and the pleasure of seeing friends once again. Teachers celebrate New Year's Day twice a year.  We celebrate it first along side everyone else, with paper hats, champagne and "Auld Lang Syne".  The first day of school is our second New Year's.  It is our day to make resolutions, to look backward to former lapses and triumphs and to look ahead, usually with a mix of anxiety and hope to the year to come.  We think back to our own great teachers and vow to emulate them if we can.  We pledge to do for our students what our own best teachers did for us. So on behalf of the entire Reed staff, I wish you all a Happy New Year!  May it be our best ever!

Special thanks go to the Kindergarten parents who all deserve their own Super Days for remembering to wait by the wall in front of Room 2 for their children at Pick Up time!  Way to go!  First and second grade parents are doing a phenomenal job of waiting by the lunch tables to pick up their older students.
Visitors Passes:  Every person on campus needs to check in at the office and get a Visitor's Pass. This is our best way to know who is on campus and we monitor this closely. You will be asked . . .gently. . but asked. . . to get and to wear your visitor's pass if you are on campus.
A word about Car Line. . . . it takes a bit of patience until all our new and returning families learn the ropes so that the line moves as quickly as we'd all like.  I appreciate your help. Gentle hints:

  • Please do NOT leave your car unattended as it just blocks the car line.
  • Please do NOT park in the staff parking lot.
  • Please DO use a placard with your child's and teacher's name as it really does speed the process.
The modeling you do for your children, even when the line is long and even when you're running late, is invaluable.

I so appreciate seeing so many familiar faces, as well as meeting all the parents who have come up to introduce themselves to me. You are one of the reasons this school is so outstanding - your care, commitment, time and support are invaluable.  Our school motto this year is "Team Reed" - Together Everyone Achieves More!   May it be so for our Reed families too!

Principal

From The Office

Please put names in sweaters, lunch boxes, etc.  All lost and found will be returned if this is done.  If you lost something that did not have a name in it, we have a box outside of Multi Purpose Room where it is collected.  The last day of the month all unclaimed items will be sent to a needy organization.  Thank you for your cooperation in advance.

Parents:  If you arrive late to class, please do not go directly to the classroom but sign in tardy in the main office.  The teachers send their attendance electronically and have marked your child absent.  Also if your child is going to be absent or tardy for whatever reasons, please be sure you call and notify the office.  The telephone number is 415-435-7840.  Thank you!
