Standardized Testing
In accordance with the California public Schools Accountability Act, the California Department of Education has implemented standardized tests to ensure compliance with curriculum guidelines and measure academic progress in California public schools.
California Progress Reporting (APR) takes into account a school’s state Academic Performance Index (API) in addition to federal measures of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and Program Involvement (PI).Together, these reports help ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) measures achievement on the California Achievement test, given each year to students in grades 2-11. These tests assess whether a school is meeting state educational goals and measures progress from year to year.
Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) is a statewide accountability system mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001which requires each state to ensure that all schools and districts make Adequate Yearly Progress.
