The School Site Council is a forum in which parents and staff collaborate to address school improvement needs. There is always an equal number of parents and staff members as required by law. Meetings are held once a month, usually the third Monday. Although only site council members may vote, the meetings are open to the public. Attending site council meetings is a great way to learn about school programs.
What does the School Site Council do?The responsibilities include:- Participate in developing a school improvement plan designed to improve the effectiveness of the school program.
- Implementing an annual review of the effectiveness of the program and developing appropriate revisions in the School Improvement Plan.
- Monitor certain funding such as School Improvement funds
- Carrying out all other duties and responsibilities assigned to it in the Education Code of California.
